In painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, the artists featured in Magically Thinking travel between the physical world and worlds of their own creation, often blurring the lines between abstraction and representation. Their expression serves as a response to the insecurity of an uncertain world that leads to the mental gymnastics of magical thinking.
Curated by Kim Marra, On view August 20th - October 1st at Angels Gate Gallery, Magically Thinking includes the work of Sharon Louise Barnes, Carlos Beltran Arechiga, Vita Eruhimovitz, Margaret Griffith, Kim Marra, Dakota Noot, Megan Reed and Jonathan Ryan.

The members of Museum Adjacent temporarily installed our artwork outside of and adjacent to museum institutions. This project is an exercise in determining the role of the under-recognized artist within the Los Angeles art world. By placing our work outside of the most visually recognized emblems of the Los Angeles art scene, we make a place for ourselves within the greater conversation; it allows the artists' agency to determine our place within a system that can so often deny inclusion.
